Year 10 Media Studies

Course Description

Media Studies is learning about how we understand the media that surrounds us in daily life. You will continue to build on your skills from last year and apply them to new media products. We will use critical thinking skills to examine media issues and will explore a film genre.

In this course, you will:

Study and design a video game
Study a film genre and create a sweded film.
Look at issues in the media.

Course Overview

Term 1
We will start by learning about video games and then you will design your own.

We will then begin to study the Dystopian film genre.

Term 2
From our genre study, you will remake a scene from a Dystopian film, shot-by-shot. This is called a sweded film (see the links for an example).

We will then investigate the impact of filters and AI on body image in the media and apply this learning to a PSA text.
