Year 10 Media Studies builds on the skills taught in Year 9 Media Studies. There is a focus on analysing the Dystopian film genre and relating it to our current society, as well as looking at video games as texts and as an industry. We will continue to look at misinformation and manipulation in the media and how it affects us. Creating media products is also a significant aspect of this course.
In this course:
We will study the Dystopian film genre and create a Swedish film scene from one of our texts, applying film production techniques.
We will look at the history of video games, then design individual proposals for an original video game.
We will continue to look at the impact of misinformation, image manipulation, and AI in the news and social media, particularly on how it impacts young people.

Course Overview
Term 1
We will start by learning about video games and then you will design your own.
We will then begin to study the Dystopian film genre.
Term 2
From our genre study, you will remake a scene from a Dystopian film, shot-by-shot. This is called a sweded film (see the links for an example).
We will then investigate the impact of filters and AI on body image in the media and apply this learning to a PSA text.
